Raquette Lake in winter

Winter at the Lake

Snowmobile season turns Raquette Lake into a trail town, with miles of groomed riding outside the door and a warm cabin waiting when the day is done.

Ride from Raquette Lake

Uncas Road, right by the cabin, carries a major leg of the local snowmobile trail system. Hamilton County offers about 700 miles of interconnecting groomed trails, generally open by mid-December, snow permitting.

Ride out from the hamlet for a day on the trails, then come back to the cabin's stone fireplace, knotty-pine rooms, and a comfortable place to warm up together.

Good to Know for Winter

The outdoor shower is winterized for the season. The house has a full bathroom and a half bath indoors.

Uncas Road is closed to cars in winter, so arrive via Route 28.

The nearest full grocery store is in Inlet, about 20 minutes away — stock up on the way in.

Cell service out on the trails can be spotty, so download maps before you head out — at the cabin, Wi-Fi and cell service are strong.
